sugar and honey

I dipped my sadness in dark brown sugar
And drizzled honey on all my lies
Donned my shades so you wouldn’t see the teardrops slowly filling up my eyes

My tongue is heavy from all of the salt
It’s like vinegar on my breath
I tried to purge myself of your taste
You left in a haste
What a fucking disgrace

I washed my heart in a chlorine bath
Then nibbled on x kinds of poisonous grass
Left myself there to die, but could only cry in despair
It’s a whole lotta bullshit out here

So I’ll keep hiding my sadness in song
And lying that nothing is wrong
While I laugh and sway and dance all day
Pretending I’m glad that you’re gone
